Woodwind Prize 2026Winner

Marina Alves

Brazil, clarinet

The Allegro amabile was played as amabile — gentle without being inert. Her phrase endings were sustained to their last value, so the music never clipped, and the harmonic swells in the development were shaded rather than stressed. The interplay with the piano was genuinely collaborative, which is the hardest thing to demonstrate in a recording.
