Rafael Queiroz
The opening was stern and spare, the tone dry where the music needs dryness, and the movement's long crescendo was paced so carefully that its arrival felt earned. His rhythmic grip held the structure together through the more fragmented writing. Two entries finished level on the total; this one took the tie on the strength of its interpretation.
